missing women’s history every day

I’ve just written an article for a zine which Edinburgh Lo-fi Photography is going to distribute over the next few days as part of the AltPhoto Festival organised by Kenny Bean. How gobsmaked was I to find out that Jessie Mann probably one of the very first women to use photographic equipment lived in a house which is one street away from where I work nearly every day? She lived in the house above in Wellington Place in 1841. The article will go online as well. I put a link in when it goes live

  1. Fantastic! Great to know she was a Scotswoman, or if not, she was at least working in Scotland. I look forward to reading your article.

  2. Oh she seems to be throughly scottish and stanch wee free church! more about that anon. Elaine is beavering away on the zine so copies can be distributed tonight at the Altphoto fest opening but hopefully it will be online in a few days.
