I’m off to Granny Greens to get a bit of crafting in company. I’m a yarn snob but this lurid acrylic was bought pre Cambridge trip and used to make squares for Knit-a-Square. Knit-a-square is South African based charity trying to get blankets for AIDS orphans (1.3 millions AIDS orphans and vulnerable children in Southern Africa). As I was born in SA I’ve been feeling guilty about my lack of response to the AIDS crisis in Africa but a year or so back I came across this initative in a wool shop and have been making squares ever since.
I love crafting in company – sometimes I arrange tea and crafting with friends but the great thing about Granny Greens is that it happens almost every monday and is drop in so I don’t have to worry about organisation.
