This is a photograph by artist Judith Rowan of a shop front on Leith Walk which was covered in the most amazing patchwork of wood of different shades and colours. Last year the council prevailed on the owners to tidy it up and large sheets of chip board went up and a coat of iron gray paint over the top. Luckily Judith took this picture before it was blandified.

This is one reason why I like taking photographs I become more mindful of where I am in relation to the environment.

  1. update – then it was ‘IMPROVED’ by having a mural painted over it. A state sponsored mural – utterly hideous I so prefered the strange art of the jumble of bits of wood – reminded me of a found Mondarian.
